India forbade a Burmese airplane to cross its air-space on a flight from Rangoon to Lydda Airport because the plane carried “military personnel,” it was revealed here today. The Burmese ship, carrying 40 Burmese Army men and ex-servicemen, as well as 60 members of their families, landed at Lydda today, 24 hours late, having had to take a round-about route because of the Indian ban.
The Burmese group has cone to Israel to spend a year studying methods for establishment and operation of new settlements and agricultural development. Upon completion of the year’s course, the Burmese group will return home to implement their newly learned methods along Burma’s sparsely populated northern frontier. Today’s group is the second of this type from Burma. The first Burmese group completed its 12-month course study several weeks ago, and is now back in Burma.
