RIO DE JANEIRO (May. 18)
Israel’s Ambassador here, Yosef Tekoah, today protested strongly to the Brazilian Foreign Ministry against anti-Israel “hatred and racial insults” spread here in the last five days by the United Arab Republic’s deputy foreign minister, Hussein Z. Sabri.
Mr. Sabri came here Friday on a “goodwill” mission, after visiting several other Latin American countries. At a press conference here yesterday, he told newspapermen that Nasser would never meet Israel’s Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion because that “would involve recognition of Israel, which is unacceptable to us.” He also stated that the UAR would not enter into a non-aggression pact with Israel, charging that “Israel would not keep such a pact, just as Hitler never honored agreements.”
In his complain, Mr. Tekoah pointed out that the UAR foreign ministry official “has turned his goodwill mission into a campaign of hatred, spreading racial insults and national discord on a continent traditionally opposed to any form of discrimination.”
