Dr. Jacoby, World Jewish Congress Representative at U. N., Dead

Funeral services were held here today for Dr. Gerhard Jacoby, a permanent representative of the World Jewish Congress at the United Nations, who died last Friday after a short illness. He was 69 years old.

Dr. Jacoby, who attended the Universities of Berlin and Wuerzburg was admitted to the Court of Appeals in Berlin as a lawyer in 1921. He left Germany in 1936 and went to Palestine, where he stayed until 1939. He then came to the United States.

In New York he became a research associate of the Institute of Jewish Affairs of the World Jewish Congress. In 1950, he went on a two-year mission to Germany for the World Jewish Congress; while there he was instrumental in helping the Jews in Germany to reorganize themselves.

Upon his return to the United States he became a member of the Department of International Affairs of the World Jewish Congress and was appointed one of its permanent representatives at the United Nations.
