Delivery of weapons purchased from Israel in the spring of 1959 is progressing smoothly, a spokesman for the West German Defense Ministry said here today. The purchase included grenades valued at $6,700,000, 40 percent of which have been delivered, and Uzi submachine guns valued at $1,500,000, half of which have been delivered.
The spokesman said the weapons “have fully satisfied our expectations.” adding that “we would not have signed the contract in the first place if preliminary tests had not proved that they were the best to be had.” He also said that currently there were no further arms contracts under consideration.
