Yeshayahu Stopper has been appointed the Israel Trade Commissioner in the United States, it was announced here today by Arieh Manor, Israel’s Economic Minister in this country. Mr. Stopper, who was formerly his country’s commercial attache in Istanbul, succeeds Nathan Raviv, who was the Israel Trade Commissioner in this country since 1957.
A total of $29, 000,000 in goods was exported by Israel to the United States in 1959, Mr. Raviv reported here today. He estimated that this year’s total would be $30, 000, 000. Israel imports from the United States about three times the amount of goods it exports to this country, Mr. Raviv declared.
