William O. Douglas, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court, today received the 1960 “America-Israel Friendship Award” of the Mizrachi Women’s Organization of America, in a ceremony in his judicial chambers.

He was cited for the “distinguished contribution he has rendered toward fostering understanding between the peoples of the United States and Israel, and toward the promotion of the Biblical ideals of peace and social justice among nations and peoples throughout the world.”

Mrs. Moses Dyckman, of New York, national president of the Women’s Religious-Zionist organization, presented the citation in the presence of Mrs. Joshua L. Lewis, of Brooklyn, chairman of the organization’s forthcoming 35th national convention. Justice Douglas expressed “deep appreciation” for the award.
