Dr. Benjamin Mazar will resign both as rector and as president of the Hebrew University because of poor health, it was reported here today.

The resignation reportedly will be submitted to the university board of governors when it meets in March. The post of rector is that of the academic head of the university while the presidency is more an administrative position.

Professor Nathan Rottenstreich, the present Dean of Humanities, was reportedly being considered for the post of rector, but there is as yet no candidate under consideration for the university presidency, according to the reports.
