Seventeen medical, social welfare and mental health specialists from four countries concluded a two day series of meetings here today, evaluating the methods of treatment and management at the new Sinai Clinic. The clinic is the first Jewish mental hospital built in Europe since World War II, and was opened last June.
Experts attending the conference, under the auspices of the Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, came to the conference from Belgium, France, Britain and West Germany. The sessions were conducted by Dr. Armand Sunier, director of the clinic, and Dr. Laszlo Molnar, of the JDC medical department. In addition to evaluating the work of the clinic, the experts also discussed the problems of mental health in the Jewish communities in Belgium, France and West Germany.
Since the clinic was opened, Dr. Sunier reported, 40 of the 100 patients admitted last June have already been discharged. The advanced methods of the 78-bed hospital were highly praised by the visiting experts.
