Police in a number of Brazilian cities kept watch today in Jewish institutions and synagogues although no anti-Jewish incidents developed from the trial of Adolf Eichmann in Jerusalem. Jewish families in several cities had received threatening letters, warning of “reprisals” for the trial.

Entire Brazilian press gave headline coverage to the trial. Some of the newspapers demanded the death penalty for the Nazi but others asserted that life imprisonment would be more fitting.
