More than 60,000 tourists visited Israel during the first five months of this year, representing a 20 percent increase over the number of visitors during the same period last year, according to figures released here today. Foreign currency income during the first quarter totaled $6,500,000, compared with $4, 500, 000 in the same period last year.
Tourism figures for the past winter showed a 50 percent increase over the previous winter, as a result of a successful drive to encourage tourism during the usually slack season.
