Paris Commemorates First Nazi Roundup of 20, 000 Jews

The deportation of 20, 000 Jews from Paris in 1942, when the Germans struck here for the first time with a mass roundup, was commemorated yesterday in solemn ceremonies attended by French officials.

The ceremonies were held on the site where the Jewish martyrs, few of whom returned, were assembled prior to their deportation. A placque commemorating the first victims was placed on the building, and Kaddish was recited.
