The Maimonides Hospital of Brooklyn announced today an award of $240, 000 from the Department of Health, Education and Welfare to Dr. Adrian Kantrowitz for further studies in the use of electronic circuits in stimulating bodily processes.

Dr. Kantrowitz, director of cardiovascular surgery and surgical research, has been studying the use of such circuits to restore control to malfunctioning and nonfunctioning parts of the body, a new area of investigation in the field. He also will continue his investigation of the use of an auxiliary heart to correct improper functioning of the heart.
