Four-day Annual Overseas Conference of J.D.C. Opens Today in Geneva

The 16th Annual Overseas Conference of the Joint Distribution Committee and the Second Assembly of European Jewish Community Services, representing Jewish communities in free Europe, will open here tomorrow. The JDC conference will last four days during which problems concerning relief and rehabilitation of Jews in various countries will be discussed.

In conjunction with the JDC Conference, the first meeting will also be held of the newly created International Council on Jewish Social and Welfare Services. The general purpose of the new council, which was formally established in London four months ago, is to provide a permanent forum for the exchange of views and information among member organizations on problems of Jewish welfare services. It is comprised of various social and welfare agencies including the JDC, the Central Fund for Jewish Relief and Rehabilitation, the Jewish Colonization Association, the United Hias Service and the World ORT Union.
