4,079 Jewish Congregations Reported Functioning in United States

There are 4,079 Jewish congregations of all three denominations–Orthodox, Conservative and Reform–in the United States, according to tabulations in the 1962 Yearbook of American Churches, issued here today by the National Council of Churches. The yearbook states that all of the Jewish congregations together have a total of 5,367,000 members.

(The American Jewish Committee Yearbook gives the total of the Jewish population in the United States as 5,531,000. It is known that a substantial number of Jews in this country are not affiliated with any congregation.
