Jewish Philanthropist Gives $500,000 for N.Y. East Side Settlement Center

A gift of $500,000 for the construction of a new building for the Henry Street Settlement, a well-known pioneering organization in American settlement work, located on the East Side in this city, was announced today as given by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Guttman. Both were born on the East Side. Mr. Guttman gave the $500,000 check to former Senator Herbert H. Lehman, honorary chairman of the Henry Street Settlement.
