Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion today called upon the striking 6,000 members of the Engineers Union, employed in public institutions, to return to work “for the good of the economy and the nation.” He warned against the continuance of the strike for higher wages which entered today its seventh day.
Describing the strike as “an introduction of dangerous anarchy in labor relations and in the labor ranks,” the Prime Minister said that the Government does not object to the holding of a full-dress debate on the strike in the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament. He pointed out that the Speaker of the Knesset has announced that the presidium allotted four hours for a discussion at Monday’s session of parliament.
