NEW YORK (Feb. 19)
Youth Aliyah, which is supported partly by Hadassah and Pioneer Women in the United States, has absorbed in Israel 3,500 youngsters from North African and European countries during 1961, it was reported here today at the annual Youth Aliyah conference of the Hadassah attended by more than 200 delegates.
The work of the Youth Aliyah in absorbing Jewish immigrant children in Israel was highly praised at the conference by Leonard W. Mayo, president of the International Union for Child Welfare. Addressing the delegates, Mr. Mayo said: “The record of Youth Aliyah over the last ten years is not only outstanding, it has blazed a trail in creative work for youth. For it is a program adapted to their needs and designed to prepare them for full participation in a new world.”
