Rabbi Solomon Freehof of Pittsburgh, president of the World Union for Progressive Judaism, was tendered a dinner in his honor last night by the South African Union for Progressive Judaism.

Keith Fleming, Johannesburg deputy mayor, extended a civic welcome to Rabbi Freehof and Mrs. Freehof and commended the role of Jews in South African life “living up to the great teachings of your faith.” Rabbi Freehof, in his response, said Judaism was a “religion equipped for survival.” He will spend a month touring South Africa as a guest of local Reform Congregations.
