American Cancer Society Grants $53,200 to Brandeis U. for Research

The American Cancer Society has granted Brandeis University a special award of $53,200, to establish Dr. William T. Murakami, of the Brandeis Graduate Department of Biochemistry, as a faculty research associate, it was announced here today.

Dr. Murakami will investigate the biochemical reactions involved in the conversion of virus-infected cells into tumors. The scientist who received his doctorate at the University of Southern California in 1958, has spent the last two years on a post-doctoral grant at the Pasteur Institute, in Paris, continuing research he had previously begun at Brandeis as a post-doctoral fellow from 1958 to 1960.
