A three-judge appeals court today granted permission to a childless Jewish couple from California to adopt the infant girl of a Christian mother on grounds that a home and parents are more important to a baby than religion. The couple, whose names were withheld by the court, said they want to bring up the infant, now one year old, in the Jewish faith and sought an adoption order.
