Delegations from 21 Jewish communities in Argentina are participating in a national conference organized by the DAIA, central representative body of Argentine Jewry, to discuss problems concerning Jewish communal life in the country. The conference is taking place in the city of Cordoba.
Dr. Isaac Goldenberg, DAIA president, said that two problems will occupy the center of discussion at the parley. The first is a re-evaluation of the resurgence of anti-Semitism in this country. Dr. Goldenberg emphasized although anti-Semitism has not spread among the masses of the Argentine people, it must be examined as an urgent problem.
The other of the more important items on the agenda, Dr. Goldenberg said, is the status of Jewish education in the light of the recent trend to permit local authorities to implement separate, provincial educational programs.
The conference will also hear a report from Marc Turkow, representative of the World Jewish Congress, on the situation of the Jews in various countries. Mr. Turkow just returned from Copenhagen where he attended the session of the World Jewish Congress executive and other world Jewish parleys held there last month.
