Experts of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development were in Israel today, examining the Government’s master plan for extending, widening and improving Israel’s highways, preparatory to a World Bank loan of $30, 000, 000 toward financing of the comprehensive road project.
The experts are expected to have their final report ready for submission to the World Bank executive board scheduled to meet next September. The entire project, if finally approved by the World Bank, will involve costs totaling 180, 000, 000 Israeli pounds ($60, 000, 000). The construction work is to begin during the 1962-63 fiscal year, and is expected to last six years.
