Bread prices will go up from a third to a half next month over present prices and there will be corresponding rises in the prices of eggs and milk products but not of milk itself. The price increases follow a Ministerial Committee decision to remove subsidies and lift price controls from these foods.
In announcing this move in Israel’s new economic policy, Pinhas Sapir, Commerce and Industry Minister, said a money grant would be made to wage earners to compensate for the increases in the cost of living arising from the bread and dairy price increases.
