An evaluation of the current situation of Jews of German and Austrian origin in Latin America was begun here today as 55 delegates from six South American countries convened for the fourth annual congress of the Association of Jewish Communities in Latin America.

The organization represents German-speaking Jews in the Hemisphere. Prominent rabbis and other community leaders are among the delegates who have come here from Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay and Peru, in addition to leaders of the Chilean Jewish community.
