Shmuel Divon, director of the Middle Eastern department of the Foreign Ministry, has been named Israel’s first Ambassador to Ethiopia, it was announced here today. The appointment followed the elevation of Israel’s representation in Addis Ababa from the rank of Consul General, and the decision by Emperor Haile Selassie to expand cooperation with Israel, disregarding continuous Arab pressure.
