An expansion program for the work of the Oriental Institute of the Hebrew University at Jerusalem was announced here today, following the establishment of a $30,000 grant to the Institute by three members of the Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University here. The grant was made by Jesse and Milton Lowenthal and their sister, Mrs. Mabel L. Lewit.

One of the immediate projects to be undertaken by the Institute as a result of the Lowenthal-Lewit grant will be a series of translations from Arabic into Hebrew and from Hebrew into Arabic of classical and modern literary works in both languages, Another part of the program will revolve around an Arabic-Hebrew dictionary. The Institute is also planning to set up libraries for Afro-Asian studies. The Rockefeller Foundation had given the Institute an additional grant of $10,000.
