President Zalman Shazar was made an honorary citizen of Jerusalem today in ceremonies in the Municipal Chamber attended by Prime Minister David Ben Gurion, Knesset Speaker Kaddish Luz, Cabinet Ministers, Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Nissim and other dignitaries.
Moshe Sharett, who addressed the gathering in his capacity as chairman of the Jewish Agency executive, paid warm tribute to the personality of the President. Hitherto, Mr. Sharett declared, “President Shazar had three titles–Jew, Zionist, Israeli. To these was added a fourth–Jerusalemite, the crown of all.” Mr. Shazar responded warmly, expressing his appreciation for the honor.
