Leaders of the Central Board of Jewish Communities protested to the Government yesterday against the release from prison of a man sentenced to death in 1947, after being convicted of helping the Germans round up Greek Jews during World War II for deportation to the Nazi death camps.

The man is Constantine Recanati. A war crimes trial here convicted him in 1957 and sentenced him to death, but the sentence was commuted to life imprisonment. Last Wednesday, he was released under amnesty legislation intended to free imprisoned Communists.
