Charles Gutwirth, prominent Jewish philanthropist and diamond merchant, died here today at the age of 71. Born in Antwerp, Belgium, Mr. Gutwirth came to the United States in 1939. He was a vice-president of Ampal and of the Israel Development Corporation, one of the founders of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, an active supporter of the United Jewish Appeal, the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, the Weizman Institute of Science, in Rehovot, and the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of Greater New York.
