The national representative body of the Jewish religious community in America today urged the labor movement to stand in the forefront working for civil rights and the benefits of all people irrespective of religion, race or nationality. The call was made by the Synagogue Council of America in connection with the Labor Day celebration to be observed next Monday.
In his Labor Day message, Rabbi Uri Miller, president of the Synagogue Council of America, stated: “It is a travesty for discrimination to exist within the labor movement, and we welcome the efforts exerted under the leadership of great and goodly men to have the labor movement reflect the loftiest ideals of American life and the highest level of ethics in the execution of its program.”
