Ontario Police Alert Against Anti-jews Acts, Attorney General Assures

Fred Cass, attorney general of the Province of Ontario, has assured the Jewish National Joint Community Relations Committee here that his office and the police authorities will continue to be on the alert against any anti-Semitic demonstrations or “swastika vandalism. ” He gave that assurance after a meeting with Jewish representatives who told him of the possibility of further swastika vandalism, urging that “necessary steps be taken to cope with the situation. “

“I am anxious to take any action which may be possible to ensure that there is no repetition or enlargement of these occurrences, ” Mr. Cass stated. He said he had discussed the situation with both local and provincial police authorities. The police authorities, he declared, have assured him that they are on the alert against such activities and that, if any anti-Semitic acts should take place, “the perpetrators will be sought out and appropriately exposed to the light of public opinion and duly punished.”
