Four Boston Jewish philanthropists have launched Brandeis University’s 15th anniversary patrons and sponsors program aimed at meeting the university’s $18,000,000 Ford Foundation grant goal by June 1964, officials announced today.
The university was given the grant conditional on matching it by the end of 1965. Brandeis officials hope that early achievement of the goal will make the university eligible for an additional Ford Foundation grant equal to the $6,000,000 grant received last year on a three-to-one matching basis.
The program seeks to raise $5,000,000 in cash by next June. First participants are Brandeis Trustees Joseph Ford and Teuben Gryzmish, who became 15th anniversary patrons by individual gifts of $25,000, and Trustee Joseph Linsey and Rubin Epstein, a Fellow, who have given $10,000 each, making them 15th anniversary sponsors.
