A group of 100 Jewish business and civic leaders from 30 states visited the White House this weekend to point up their interest in early passage of the civil rights legislation now pending in the U. S. Senate.
Led by Dore Schary, national chairman of B’nai B’rith’s Anti-Defamation League, the group then visited the Senate, where they urged proponents of the civil rights bill not to permit the current Senate debate to become “a race between the patience of Senators facing a filibuster–and the impatience of Negroes awaiting long-overdue rights.”
