Seventy-four American college students sailed for Israel today for a year of study at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. The students, from all parts of the country, representing 40 colleges, were selected from many applicants by the American Student Program Committee of the American Friends of the Hebrew University, under the chairmanship of Professor Oscar I, Janowsky.

The number of students participating in the program this year is almost double last year’s enrollment and the largest group to date. The program, now in its tenth year, is designed to afford the American students a broader scope in their chosen field of study as well as give them an opportunity "to savor Israel’s culture at first hand and to contribute to a better understanding in Israel of America and American Jewish ideals and institutions." Students participating in the program will receive credit from their schools in this country for their study in Israel.
