Prof Sabin, American Jewish Scientist, Honored by Hebrew University

Professor Albert Sabin, the American developer of live virus vaccine against polio, was today awarded an honorary doctorate by the Hebrew University. In his address at the ceremonies, Dr. Sabin stressed Israel’s role as a pilot plant for the world’s developing countries.

Eliahu Elath, president of the university, noted Dr. Sabin’s assistance in organizing the university’s medical school virology department, now under construction, which will be named for Ted Chanock, of Los Angeles.
