Violinist Isaac Stern was elected last night president of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation, succeeding Samuel Rubin who had been in the presidency for eight and a half years.
Mr. Stern, a foundation board member and chairman of the foundation’s music development committee, was elected at a meeting of the organization’s board of directors. The America-Israel Cultural Foundation supports 50 cultural projects in Israel among which are the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Inbal Dance Theatre, Habimah and the Israel National Youth Orchestra-Gadna, presently touring the U.S.
