Secretary-General U Thant today asked the next General Assembly convening December 1–to authorize an increase of 26 more men for service with the 124-man United Nations Truce Supervision Organization. UNTSO supervises the armistice agreements between Israel on the one hand and Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon on the other.

He requested also money for purchase of 22 new motor vehicles needed by UNTSO. He said the total new costs would amount to $270,700, thus increasing his previously estimated UNTSO budget to a total of $1,885,700.
