International Women’s Conference Opens in Israel; 50 Lands Represented

An international conference on the role of women in struggle for peace and development opened here today in the presence of some 100 delegates from about 50 countries. Among the speakers who addressed the opening session were Deputy Premier Abba Eban and the first lady, Mrs. Zalman Shazar. Foreign Minister Golda Meir, who initiated the conference, was unable to attend because of illness.
