An amalgamation unique in the synagogue life of Montreal Jewish community has taken place this week with the merger of five houses of worship. The synagogues involved are the Tifereth Jerusalem and the Jewish Community of Cote St. Luc and Hampstead, which last year adopted the former name; and the Beth David, Beth Yitzhak and Kahal Yeshurun.

The newly formed institution resulting from the amalgamation will be known as the Tifereth Beth David Jerusalem. According to Simon Cobrin, chairman of the amalgamation committee, “the new synagogue organization resulting from the merger will permit an expansion of the educational facilities, for both adults and children, under the leadership of Rabbi David Hartman.”
