Philadelphia Jews Seek to Block Mcintire Purchase of Radio Stations

The Federal Communications Commission was called upon by the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Philadelphia to deny the petition for a license to Faith Theological Seminary and to its president, Rev. Carl McIntire, for the purchase of Radio Stations WXUR, AM and FM, in Media, Pa. The JGRG is the official community relations agency of the local Jewish community.

In a communication to William Henry, chairman of the FCC, in Washington, D. C., it was pointed out by Robert K. Greenfield, JCRC president, that Rev. McIntire, as the majority stockholder, will control the programming and other operations of the radio station if license is granted. They charged that Rev. McIntire “has shown clearly by his past behavior that he would not refrain from creating inter religious divisiveness, tensions and frictions.”
