The ritual objects of the ancient synagogue of Leevarden in northern Holland, which is being closed and razed for lack of members, will be sent to the Children’s Village of Kfar Batya at Raanana in Israel, synagogue officials said today.
It was also announced that a new bridge in the one-time Amsterdam Ghetto will be named after the late noted Jewish journalist, Moses Samuel Vaz Dias, founder of the Dutch Press Association. He died recently at 84. The bridge leads to the Jonas Daniel Meyerplein Square named for the world-famous 19th century Jewish lawyer.
