Israel’s Deputy Prime Minister Abba Eban conferred with Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko on problems currently before the United Nations General Assembly. They discussed the situation in the Middle East, the peace-keeping activities of the United Nations, and the protection of frontiers of sovereign states against forcible changes.
Present at the talk were Ambassador Michael Comay, head of the permanent Israel delegation to the United Nations, and Gideon Raphael, a member of this year’s delegation to the General Assembly. Also present was Platon D. Morozov, member of the Soviet delegation to the United Nations. The conference lasted about an hour.
Mr. Eban also conferred with Polish Foreign Minister Adam Rapacki on the same subjects, as well as on Polish-Israel relations. The talk also covered Arab-Israel relations. The Israel Deputy Prime Minister also gave a luncheon for more than 20 foreign ministers and ambassadors attending the current session of the UN General Assembly.
