The Congress for Jewish Culture last night honored Aleph Katz, noted Yiddish poet and Yiddish editor of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency on the occasion of the appearance of his latest book of poems. “Di Emese Chassene,” which received the Kessel Prize for Yiddish Literature. The occasion also marked 40 years of his literary work.

Principal speakers at the event, which took place at the Picadilli Hotel, included Dr. S. Margoshes, the two noted Jewish poets A. Glanz-Leyeles and Efraim Auerbach, and Yudi Mark, one of the editors of monumental Dictionary of the Yiddish Language which is new in preparation. Mr. Katz, in replying, stressed his interest in creative Jewish journalism no less than in poetry, and read some of his poems to the audience.
