Austrian Parliament Votes to Abolish Statute of Limitations on Nazis

The Austrian Parliament voted today to amend the Criminal Code with the effect of abolishing the Statute of Limitations with regard to the arrest, prosecution and punishment of certain capital crimes including Nazi war crimes.

The amendment specifically referred to “all crimes committed by the Nazis between 1930 and 1945,” specifying that prosecution for such crimes may be begun any time in the future “without any time limitation.”
