A permanent world Jewish youth consultative committee was organized for the first time today following a four-day meeting here of the World Jewish Youth Planning Conference. Thirty-five leaders of Jewish youth movements throughout the world, with a combined membership of 700,000 in 219 Jewish youth organizations in 42 countries, unanimously set up a World Consultative Committee for Cooperation Among World Jewish Youth.

The new World Consultative Committee will seek to achieve the “strengthening of ties among Jewish youth in the Diaspora and Israel, the promotion of cooperative activities among Jewish youth organizations throughout the world, the development of significant program and educational materials and the providing of new opportunities for the training of Jewish youth leadership.”

The organizational structure of the Committee will be set up in terms of regions. Its executive committee, which will meet annually, will be composed of three members from the North American region; two members from the South American region; two members from Israel; two members from the European region; two members representing world Jewish youth movements active in 15 or more countries; and one member from countries presently outside the constituted regions. The Jewish Agency will be represented ex-officio.
