Foreign Minister Habib Bourguiba, Jr., of Tunisia, said today that he touched “only very lightly” on President Bourguiba’s proposals for Arab-Israel peace when he met with Secretary of State Rusk and other State Department officials.
The foreign minister, son of the President, voiced hope here that other Arab nations would heed Tunisia’s call for a reasonable settlement of the Arab-Israel impasse based on his father’s proposals. “I hope we will not be alone,” he said, adding that he felt other Arab countries would display “wisdom.” The purpose of his mission to Washington, however, was to seek assistance for Tunisia’s four-year economic plan to be launched next year.
