A resolution urging the Soviet Union to grant full rights to Jews in the USSR, providing for the Russian Jews treatment in all fields equal to the privileges granted all other nationalities in the Soviet Union, was adopted here yesterday at the conclusion of a four-day meeting held by the World Union of Jewish Students.
The participants, including students and other intellectuals from Belgium, France, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, Britain, South Africa, Israel and other countries adopted a resolution instructing its executive to press Soviet authorities to grant to USSR Jews full religious rights and facilities, full cultural rights and opportunities, equality with other minorities in all spheres, and the right to Russian Jews to emigrate for unification with their families in Israel and elsewhere abroad.
The resolution also expressed concern over “the continuation of anti-Semitic propaganda in the Soviet press,” and voiced the determinations of the World Union of Jewish Students to bring the situation of Soviet Jewry to the attention of world public opinion. Major addresses were delivered during the sessions by author and novelist Manes Sperber; Prof. Robert Mizrahi, of France, noted Jewish philosopher; and author Emanuel Litvinoff.
