The governors of nine western states joined with Los Angeles Mayor Samuel Yorty and other government officials in lauding the services of Mordechai Shalev on the occasion of his completion of a four-year tour of duty as Consul General of Israel to the Western United States and his appointment as Ambassador to Ghana.

Governors of California, Oregon, Alaska, Utan, Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado, Idano and Arizona sent messages to a farewell gathering. Gov. Samuel Goddard of Arizona made the Israeli an honorary citizen of that state.
