Sol Steinberg, vice-chairman of the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York, has contributed $142,000 for the construction of a youth center at Yahud, a new development town near Tel Aviv, it was announced here today by the Israel Education Fund, a UJA program. The corner stone for the Center at Yahud was dedicated today, the IEF reported.
The Center, to bear the names of Mr. Steinberg and his wife, Betty, will be the first of 60 youth centers planned by the Israeli Ministry of Education and Culture in the areas of concentrated immigrant population. An IEF-aided comprehensive high school is also being built at Yahud, according to Joseph Meyerhoff and Charles J. Bensley, chairman and president, respectively, of the IEF.
