The new hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine was formally dedicated today on the campus of the College in the Bronx. The 12story, air-conditioned general hospital, with a capacity of 375 beds, will admit its first patients on January 3,1966.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony at the hospital entrance marked the completion of the new $20,000,000 patient-care facility; Participating in the ceremony were: Dr. Samuel Belkin, president of Yeshiva University; Dr. Marcus D. Kogel, dean of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine; Jack D. Weiler, chairman of the Board of Overseers of the College and Max J. Etra, chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees.
The day’s events were climaxed with a dedication dinner in the evening. Contributions totaling over $4,000,000 were announced at the dinner for the completion, equipment and initial operating costs of the hospital.
